BSA Troop 599

About Us

Boy Scout Troop 599 is based in East Aurora, NY. The Troop was established circa 1925 and rechartered in 1943. Our charter organization is the Immaculate Conception Holy Name Society in East Aurora, New York. We are part of the Red Jacket District of the Western New York Council.

Troop 599 has 86 Eagle Scout alumni since 1953, including 27 Eagle Scouts in the last 10 years and 3 Eagle Scouts this past year. Our adult leadership includes Boy Scout alumni who are Council-trained and hold decades of Scouting experience.

Our Troop meetings are held on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Immaculate Conception School in the cafeteria (basement).

Our mission is:

  • To provide service to local young people by instilling in them the values of Boy Scouting
  • To teach our Scouts the true value of the Scout Oath and Scout Law
  • To teach our Scouts to "Be Prepared"
  • To help each Scout learn responsibility
  • To offer Scouts an opportunity to experience being a leader and teacher
  • To make lifelong friendships
  • To HAVE FUN while doing, learning and experiencing

The three key points of our program are advancement, activity, and responsibility.

Advancement

  • Skill Based Advancement Ranks: Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class
  • Leadership Based Advancement Ranks: Star, Life, Eagle
  • Merit badges

Activity

  • Outdoor and recreational: monthly camping, hiking, backpacking, and other Council and Troop programs
  • Life learning: fundraising, first aid and more
  • Community service

Responsibility

  • Patrol-based Troop:  leadership at all levels
  • Boy-led leadership: Patrol Leader’s Council
